Muscle Relaxer

90 Veggie Caps   500 mg

Muscle Relaxer: The king herbs in Muscle Relaxer, Peony and Honey Baked Licorice comprise Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang, which is traditionally used to ease muscle spasms and cramps, and tightness of the tendons. Pueraria is one of the most effective herbs for the treatment of neck and shoulder injuries, and along with Peony, Licorice and Cinnamon Twig increases range of motion and relieves pain.

The herbs in Muscle Relaxer are often used in the TCM clinic to assist patients with chronic or acute tension and/or pain in the upper back, neck and shoulders, whiplash with muscle tightness and spasms, frozen shoulder, limited range of motion of the neck and shoulders, over-exertion and repetitive motion injuries of the neck, shoulders, arms and wrists, carpal tunnel, TMJ or tendonitis.

Though called Muscle Relaxer, this formula is not to be confused with the class of drugs called Muscle Relaxers, or centrally acting SMRs, which are used in addition to rest and physical therapy to help relieve muscle spasms. They’re thought to work by causing a sedative effect or by preventing your nerves from sending pain signals to your brain. You should only use these muscle relaxants for up to 2 or 3 weeks. While this herbal formula does relieve some of the same symptoms, its main function is to, over time, improve the bodies flow of Qi or energy, to prevent chronic recurrence.

Pressure Ease adds one herb to the classic Tian Ma Gou Teng Yin, which is traditionally used for common “hyperactivity of Liver Yang” resulting in hypertension, headache, dizziness, vertigo and insomnia. According to TCM theory, when the Liver Yang ascends, the Wind and Yang disturb the upper body causing possible hypertension, headache, dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, blurred vision, and possible insomnia and dream-disturbed sleep. The single modification is the addition of Dogbane (Luo Bu Ma), which recent research in China has shown to have significant anti-hypertensive effect. Luo Bu Ma is classified as an Herb to Pacify Liver Yang and is also used for dizziness and insomnia.

Cautions & Contraindications: This formula is appropriate for Hypertension due to Liver Yang Rising, not for malignant hypertension and some secondary hypertension, such as renal stenosis or phenochromocytoma.
