Joint Trust is one of several Blue Dragon Formulas not comprised exclusively of Chinese Herbs. It has been added to the line for its effectiveness and practicality in treating one of the most common problems seen in many TCM practices, that is, pain and inflammation in the joints. It was specifically formulated to deliver crucial nutrients at a molecular level, supporting healthy cellular regeneration and optimal function for joints. Numerous studies have shown its effectiveness promoting joint health and flexibility, in part by renewing synovial fluid. It blocks the enzyme that breaks down cartilage and slows the progression of osteoarthritis

Glucosamine is a natural sugar produced by the body and found in certain foods. It plays an important role in the production, maintenance, and repair of connective tissue, including cartilage, ligaments and tendons. In most cases, the joints produce sufficient glucosamine to keep the connective tissue in good repair, but if they fail to do so, they can dry out, degenerate, crack, and, in the case of cartilage, even completely wear away. Left unprotected, the joints then become swollen, stiff, inflamed, tender, and painful–the condition known as osteoarthritis. Glucosamine helps decrease cartilage destruction, joint pain, swelling and loss of flexibility, and without the harmful side effects that are associated with NSAIDs or COX-2 drugs.

Chondroitin reduces pain and inflammation, improves joint function and slows progression of osteoarthritis. It enhances the shock-absorbing properties of collagen and blocks enzymes that break down cartilage. MSM is an organic source of sulfur which is also utilized by the body in the formation of connective tissue. Sulfur is essential to good health, but is easily destroyed by modern food processing methods resulting in widespread deficiencies. It is structurally and functionally important to more than 150 compounds in the body including enzymes, hormones, antibodies and free radical scavengers. MSM helps detoxify the body and increases blood circulation. In clinical studies, it has been shown to reduce inflammation, thus reducing pain and allowing the muscles to heal.

Turmeric also known as curcumin, has been used successfully for thousands of years by practitioners of the Chinese (Yu Jin) and Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for stomach ailments, abdominal discomfort, and pain relief. Today, a 95% curcumin extract of Tumeric/Yu Jin has become recognized as an effective anti-inflammatory agent as well. It inhibits the same enzymes that NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) target, but without the side effects. Clinical studies in patients with arthritis have produced evidence of symptom relief of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. One randomized controlled trial found that curcumin had significantly reduced levels of the inflammation markers CRP and MDA.

Boswellia, also known as Frankincense, and Ru Xiang extract in China is commonly used for inflammation and pain caused by arthritis. Ginger (Sheng Jiang) contains very potent anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols. These substances are believed to explain why so many people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis experience reductions in their pain levels and improvements in their mobility when they consume ginger regularly. In two clinical studies involving patients who responded to conventional drugs and those who didn’t, physicians found that 75% of arthritis patients and 100% of patients with muscular discomfort experienced relief of pain and/or swelling.

Cordyalis (Yan Hu Suo)  and Salvia (Dan Shen)Yan Hu Suo are added for its strong blood moving and pain reducing properties and Ginger is added for its harmonizing effects.

Joint Trust is a useful adjunct to Frameworks, Frameworks Acute and Painful Joint Formula for treatment of pain as well as rebuilding bone and connective tissue.
