90 Veggie Caps 500 mg
Feverfew Plus contains a standardized extract of Feverfew, one of the strongest analgesic herbs for relief of many types of headaches. Feverfew is the herb most commonly used in Europe for the treatment of migraine. It has been used throughout recorded medical history as a bitter tonic and remedy for severe headaches. Part of the herb’s action appears to be via an inhibition of secretion of the granular contents from platelets and neutron phils in the blood. It is likely that the sesquiterpene lactones inhibit prostaglandins and histamine released during the inflammatory process, preventing spasms of the blood vessels in the head that trigger migraine attacks. Cordyalis, perhaps the most potent pain relieving herb in TCM, is the co-king herb in the formula, adding to the analgesic effects of Feverfew.
Angelicae Dahuricae Root has analgesic properties as well, and along with Ligusticum, are used to guide the effects of the formula upward. Pueraria is especially effective for stiffness and spasms in the neck and shoulders which can be an additional factor in many headaches. Peony “softens” the Liver and relieves pain, as well as addressing possible underlying Yin and Blood Xu which can lead to “Liver Yang Rising”, an up rushing of excess Qi/Energy to the head.
Cautions & Contraindications: Patients on anti-coagulant or anti-platelet drugs as this formula may potentiate the effects of the drugs; patients with persistent pain not relieved by Feverfew Plus should seek further examination to rule out structural or functional abnormalities.
