Antivirals and Immune System Strengthening Formulas

Acute Stage Anti-Viral Formulas

Viricide: a combination of herbs traditionally used in China to “Clear Heat and Eliminate
Toxins”, both internally and externally. In Western terms, this means that many of the
herbs have broad spectrum anti-viral and anti-bacterial effects which can reduce both
the severity and duration of infection. Bupleurum, Dandelion, Belcamanda, Scutellaria,
Isatis, Forsythia and Lonicera have shown marked inhibitory effects on influenza,
hepatitis and other viruses. Most of the same herbs have also shown effectiveness
against a wide range of toxic sores and lesions, including the herpes virus. Isatis Root
and Leaf and Andrographis have shown immuno-stimulating effects.

Resistance Acute: a modification of the popular Chinese classic formula, Yin Qiao
San, which is traditionally used to treat the first signs of an oncoming cold or flu. By the
time we see most patients or people in the clinic to address a flu, their symptoms have
progressed beyond the initial stages. As does Yin Qiao Jie Du San, a modification of the
base formula, Resistance Acute adds herbs to treat more severe symptoms such as
high fever or a severe sore and swollen throat. Platycodon is added to help clear any
initial cough and phlegm production. Magnolia Flower is included to treat nasal
congestion. Further boosting the potency of Resistance Acute is the addition of a
standardized extract of Echinacea Purpura. Hundreds of studies have documented the
clinical applications of Echinacea. The most consistently proven effect is in stimulating
phagocytosis, that is encouraging white blood cells and lymphocytes to attack invading
organisms. It also promotes T-cell activity, reduces inflammation and has anti-bacterial,
anti-viral and anti-fungal actions. The strong anti-viral and antibacterial effects of
Resistance Acute can reduce the severity and duration of infections, including colds and
the flu.

Clear Lung: a modification of the Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan, an important classic formula,
traditionally used in China to clear heat from the lung and dissolve phlegm, which
results in a cough with thick, yellow phlegm that is difficult to spit out. In severe cases,
patients with this pattern presentation may also experience shortness of breath or
difficulty breathing. The addition of Fritillaria, Platycodon, Mulberry Root Bark and Hog
Fennel Root strongly enhances the original formulas antitussive and phlegm heat
clearing properties. Clear Lung should be combined with Resistance Acute for
persistent viral or bacterial respiratory tract infection. Resistance should be considered
for use after the acute stage illness has passed, to rebuild the Lung and Immune
systems, thus preventing recurrence.

Yin Qiao San: a traditional Chinese formula treats early stage Wind-heat attack which
enters through the nose and attacks the Lungs. It is a popular formula due to ability to
treat disorders of the Respiratory System without injuring the digestive function. Yin
Qiao San has an antiviral effect which can reduce both the severity and duration of viral
infections. It also has an antibacterial effect which inhibits the reproduction of harmful

Blue Dragon’s modification of Yin Qiao San, Resistance Acute, addresses pathogens
that have begun to progress beneath the skin layer with more severe symptoms such as
high fever and severe sore and swollen throat.

Ding Chuan Tang: coughing and wheezing with copious, thick and yellow sputum,
labored breathing, acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, tracheitis,

Magnolia Sinus (Xin Yi San modified): nasal congestion, persistent and copious nasal
discharge; chronic and acute rhinitis and sinusitis

Qing Fei Pai Du Tang (modified): The National Commission of the People’s Republic of
China together with the (NATCM), National Administration of Traditional Chinese
Medicine, recommended Qing Fei Pai Du Tang for the treatment of Covid-19 at the
height of the pandemic outbreak in Wuhan Province in China. Nearly all confirmed
patients in the coronavirus pandemic took the formula. It consists of a combination of
four formulas that have been used for thousands of years, and whose use has been
supported both by classical texts, and by the clinical experience of later physicians. In
TCM, this formula is considered suitable for patients with new, mild, common or severe
pneumonia. It’s versatility allows it to be used in the treatment of critically ill patients in
combination with Western Medicine, as well as for patients with common cold and flus.
This formula is born from the vast experience that Chinese Medicine has had with
explosive epidemics ever since they were written about in the Shang Han Lun (219
A.D.), which is among the oldest complete clinical textbooks in the world. TCM has
been fighting epidemics and pandemics and recording them for thousands of years.

Making your own Antiviral Hand Sanitizer Simply and Inexpensively: Blend 2/3 of a
cup of 91% alcohol and 1/3 cup of pure aloe to prevent drying the skin too much.
Together, the combination is over the 60% alcohol level necessary to kill CV, without a
lot of other unnecessary ingredients.

Immune System: “An ounce of prevention.” Most of those seriously affected
are the elderly or those with compromised immune function.

Resistance is a modification of Yu Ping Feng San, which has been traditionally used in
China to strengthen the “Wei Qi” or roughly what we call the immune system. A weak or
compromised immune system can lead to chronic colds or flu, and slow recovery from
bacterial or viral infections. This formula is also commonly used to strengthen cancer
patients with impaired immune systems due to chemotherapy or radiation treatment, as
well as HIV/ AIDS patients with compromised immune function, and those with chronic
fatigue syndrome. Ancient Chinese herbal texts say that “continuous consumption of
Reishi makes your body light and young, lengthens your life, and turns you into an
immortal who never dies.” Modern research has shown the herb to strengthen the
immune system and even regenerate the tissues of the liver. Schisandra has a
regulating effect on the cardiovascular system, is hepatoprotective, and stimulates
nonspecific immunity. Research has indicated Shiitake Mushroom stimulates the
immune system, possesses antibacterial properties, reduces platelet aggregation, and
possesses antiviral properties. Researchers have also indicated that in addition to
boosting the innate and adaptive immune system, whole Maitake has the ability to
regulate blood pressure, glucose, insulin, and both serum and liver lipids, such as
cholesterol and triglycerides.
Yu Ping Feng San, also known as Jade Windscreen Powder, is the TCM classic
formula for treatment of deficiency of the exterior with unstable Wei or Protective Qi
causing susceptibility to invasion of exterior pathogens and spontaneous sweating. This
formula is commonly taken to prevent colds, especially in those who suffer from
recurrent colds. Although it is effective in treating this problem, it must be taken for at
least a month and as long as five months to really be effective.
For stronger and faster effect in stabilizing the Wei and Lung Qi, use Blue Dragon’s
enhanced modification of Yu Ping Feng San, Resistance. Resistance, with the addition
of extracts of Ling Zhi or Reishi Mushroom, Cordyceps and Schizandra, is appropriate
for more severely compromised immune function, including for cancer patients with
impaired immune system due to chemotherapy or radiation treatment, HIV/ AIDS
patients, and those suffering from highly contagious forms of influenza.
Enerchi is a modification of Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang, traditionally used to strengthen the
immune system and boost energy, combating fatigue and weakness due to overwork,
lack of sleep, mental and emotional stress or poor diet. Enerchi naturally enhances
physical and mental stamina for those with demanding lifestyles. It increases basal
metabolism, raising the bodies “Qi” or energy production and utilization.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang
strengthens the bodies adaptogenic function to help one better adapt to stressors,
whether physical, emotional, mental, environmental or biological. Again, according to
TCM, deficiencies in these functions can result in symptoms such as fatigue, low
energy, poor digestion and appetite, shortness of breath, chronic fatigue syndrome,

gastric, rectal or uterine prolapse, anemia, or compromised immune function. Enerchi
does not focus on relieving these possible symptoms or “diseases”, or claim to do so,
but rather on strengthening the bodies underlying energy and immune function.

Chi Cool: Chi Cool is designed for Lung and Spleen Qi Xu patients who are
constitutionally warm, as most traditional Qi Tonic formulas, such as Bu Zhong Yi Qi
Tang and BDH Enerchi are warm or very warm in nature. Xi Yang Shen and Dang
Shen, the formulas king herbs, address this Lung and Spleen Qi Deficiency, along with
Ci Wu Jia, Huang Qi and Shan Yao. Chi Cool also nourishes Lung and Kidney Yin with
Lo Han Guo, Wu Wei Zi, Bai He and Mai Men Dong. Jie Geng is added to open up and
disseminate the Lung Qi. It is useful for a chronic dry cough, wheezing or shortness of
breath from Lung Deficiency with a warm constitution.

AdaptogenX: Adaptogens are herbs that improve your body’s ability to adapt to stress,
whether the stressors be physical, mental or emotional. To put it simply: adaptogens
help you adapt. They work at a molecular level by regulating a stable balance in the
hypothalamic, pituitary, and adrenal glands. Numerous studies also show that they
improve blood sugar levels, optimize protein synthesis, reduce inflammatory cortisol
levels and improve cholesterol ratios. To qualify as an adaptogen, an herb must be
completely safe and non-toxic and have broad uses for health. This elite class of herbs
impart strength, energy, stamina, endurance, and improve mental clarity. In many parts
of the non-Western world adaptogens are used extensively in high-risk, fast-reflex
occupations, from athletes to miners to deep sea divers. Siberian Ginseng is classified
as an adaptogen, enhancing immunity and vitality overall. It can be used in combination
with other adaptogenic herbs to support cognitive parameters such as performance,
speed, accuracy, and attentiveness to a task, as well as support the stress response, by
both subjective and objective measures. According to the American Psychological
Association, 77% of people in the U.S. regularly experience physical symptoms caused
by stress.
Ginseng provides non-specific protection against various mental, physical and
environmental forms of stress. Studies have demonstrated the potential of ginseng to
prevent and reverse a number of inflammatory conditions, including diabetes, heart
disease, stroke, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and asthma.
Rhodiola is an adaptogen that has been proven to reduce the secretion of cortisol
during stressful situations. Too much cortisol (your primary stress hormone) can deplete
your nutrient reserves, impair memory, and have devastating effects on your blood
pressure, blood sugar, and metabolism.

Schisandra is a potent general tonic, decreasing fatigue, enhancing physical
performance, and promoting endurance. The berry counters stress by reducing the
levels of stress hormones in the blood.
Turmeric is probably one of the most studied herbs today, in large part due to its
amazing anti-inflammatory functions. It supports the body’s innate antioxidant function
by decreasing inflammation and boosting immunity, as well as helping the body to
maintain healthy levels of stress hormone production. It helps the body maintain healthy
levels of body weight, blood glucose, cholesterol, corticosterone, memory, and reduced
glutathione during the acute and chronic experience of stressors Reishi Mushroom has
been rated the most prized herb in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years,
with Ginseng in second place, and is so highly treasured that it was traded for its own
weight in gold and was available only to emperors. It is still the most important herb in
Asia and the most thoroughly researched. Many hundreds of studies support traditional
health claims. Reishi contains over 200 active ingredients and unique compounds that
are the most biologically active obtainable from any plant source. The adaptogenic,
antiallergenic, antihypertensive and immune system boosting effects are due to the
presence of triterpenes, including ganodermic acid. Reishi has also been shown to
substantially reduce or eliminate the side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy if it
is taken before, during, and after the treatments.
Shiitake has been cultivated for more than 1,000 years. Over centuries, it was found

that the mushroom could be used not only as food but also as a remedy for upper-
respiratory diseases, poor blood circulation, liver problems, exhaustion and weakness,

and is a booster for life energy. It was also believed to prevent premature aging.
Ashwagandha is often referred to as Indian Ginseng. Its effects on cortisol, stress
tolerance and internal stress responses have been studied for decades. It is both a
rejuvenating and a sedative herb, it can both relax and increase energy at the same
time. It is a great herb for combating stress as well as impotence. Lycii Berry, He Shou
Wu, Codonopsis and Rehmannia are additional highly prized Chinese adaptogens.
